At Exercise Connection, we envision a future where the Autistic community – and beyond – is included in all aspects of physical activity and exercise; a world where everybody has access to the profound physical and mental benefits of exercise. We strive to create a global community that embraces inclusive teaching practices, develops connected learning environments, and promotes academic achievement & physical well-being.
David Geslak’s journey into exercise therapy began when he was asked to teach a boy on the autism spectrum how to skip. After achieving this milestone in just four sessions, the boy’s parents were elated, revealing that they had struggled to teach him this skill for two years.
Encouraged by this success, David expanded his focus to work with more children on the autism spectrum, discovering that exercise not only enhanced physical health but also boosted self-confidence, social skills, and emotional regulation.
In 2009, David founded Exercise Connection to further his mission of supporting the autism community. The organization, initially born from his work at Giant Steps, now features a growing team and has developed the first autism employment program integrating exercise.
Our inclusive visuals and video models were created with the help of our Exercise Buddies. Nothing is more inspiring than being led by peers!
